Shangla is a district rich in politics. it produced and produces great personality whose have name in politics.

Senator Sher Mohammad Khan (an ally of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto) was killed in a road accident, his Son Hamid Iqbal then became MPA for PF-87 Shangla. His brother and ex. MPA of Shangla Mr.Badir Zaman was also killed in Swat during the protest of TNSM.

Ex.MPA Sultan Sham was killed at the age of 32 years. He was the first MPA from PF-88 Shangla. His brother Zahir Shah was elected MPA from PF-87 Shangla Many Time and this time also a member of Provincial Assembly from Shangla.

Mr.Pir Mohammad Khan, an MPA from PF-88 Shangla of MMA , was also killed in a suicide bomb attack in Hayat Abad Peshwar, he did much for his area and was elected MPA 5 times. He was Minister For Revenue, Excise, Auqaf and Religious Affairs in the Nawaz Sharif government. Nowadays Eng.Amir Muqam is president of PML"Q" and Federal Minister for political affairs also belongs to Tehsil Puran Distt Shangla.

Senator Rehat Hussian of MMA belong to Shapure Shangla. Mutawakil Khan Advocate of Barkana Shahpur who remained member of social action board and chairman of biatulmal and now leading Pakistan Peoples Party Sherpao in Shangla.
Said Freen also lead to Awami National Party he and his party become a comparative against other party like Pakistan People Party, Muslim Leag Q and others but still with high effort and spend money they are not success in any seat of Provincial assembly or National Assembly, But in the 2008 election their position is strong against other party but according the unofficial result their beat by Pakistan Muslim League (Q). after the nonofficial declaration from Election Commission of Pakistan thy objection start judicially case in Peshawar High court. by this case the high court banned both result of Provincial assembly and nation assembly. the main cause of possible win in 2008 election are the young Ex. Army caption (r) Muhamamd Yar Khan he most popular in the area for the people help. After the jury Pakistan Muslim League Candidates are declare as winner in all three sets National and Provincial Assembly.
